![]() Until a few years ago, Apple would launch all of its new iPhone and iPhone Pro models with the latest A-class chipsets. Which is exactly what a 15-inch MacBook Air would be. Given the ridiculous levels of hype building around the launch of Apple's mixed reality efforts at WWDC, there's an argument that you do not dilute any of the messaging around this new product line with another new product line. This 8/10 mix echoes the current M2 chipset used in the existing MacBook Air models, suggesting that Apple could delay the launch of the M3 chipset to allow the MacBook Air 15-inch to still be 'current' or launch this new laptop with a chipset one generation back. The logs also show some specifications the display has a similar resolution to the 14-inch MacBook Pro, the 8 GB of RAM follows the existing Air laptops, and the chipset has eight main cores and ten graphics cores.Įverything adds up to the expected larger MacBook Air, but the core count is. The latest reports from various log files received by third-party developers of macOS apps show a new laptop not currently availablel this 'Mac 15,3" product identifier suggests a 15-inch MacBook Air. Is this Apple's intention for its larger laptop? The obvious choice to power a larger MacBook Air would be the upcoming M3 generation of Apple Silicon chips a new MacBook Air with the new chipset would offer the latest technology, the longest potential life, and provide an attractive upgrade for existing Air users running the older M1 or M2 chipsets. That echoes the launch pattern of the 13-inch M1-powered MacBook Air and Macbook Pro laptops. Given that timescale, the first M3 laptops could realistically be announced in October for November availability. The current capacity is likely reserved for the A17 Bionic, which is slated to power the upcoming iPhone 15 series. While TSMC claims N3B mass production is going as planned (after numerous delays), the M3 isn't scheduled to hit the assembly line until Q3 2023. The Apple M3 is rumored to be one of the first chips to be manufactured on TSMC's new N3B node. ![]() Update: Tuesday April 18th: Adding to the discussion around the potential of Apple Silicon’s M3 chipset not launching at WWDC are reports that TSMC (the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) will be focusing its production on silicon destined for the 2023 iPhone update: Anil Ganti for NotebookCheck : (Photo by HECTOR RETAMAL/AFP via Getty Images) AFP via Getty Images Similarly would pay for a Home service add on if compelling.People walk past an Apple store in Shanghai on October 5, 2021. I am paying for AppleOne today and also GPT4 and would absolutely support a monthly add on to AppleOne if Siri got a major GPT boost. We need a massive boost and turnaround of Siri to become something more than a voice based green screen terminal for simple commands. ![]() Seize the moment and ramp the Apple Home eco system.Īpple Siri - Siri is an amazing interface for convenience but like most voice UIs have been completely made into toys by GPT4 and its cousins. Would love to see Apple unleash two platforms that can really shine even more in the iCloud constellation.Īpple Watch - would love to see it become a full featured citizen completely stand alone from the iPhone and double down on health features including expansion of their current hobby on mental wellbeing.Īpple HomeKit - Seen lots of rumors of HomeOs and frankly it is time to own the home instead of letting Amazon and Google run it in so many homes, Amazon is currently blinking with massive layoffs in their smart speaker division and Alexa service. I am less interested in any new hardware announcements than to see what the evolving iCloud vision is and how some of the satellite devices will evolve into stand alone platform segments inside the iCloud universe.
